10 September 2026, B Lab Nordics and Märk Cph launch Nature Inclusive Governance toolkit.
“Onboarding Nature” is the name of the toolkit on nature based governance systems for Denmark which was published yesterday.
The toolkit outlines alternative governance models based on the existing Onboarding Nature Toolkit which was originally developed by B Lab Benelux – now adapted to a Nordic and Danish context and with updated case examples of how businesses can integrate nature in their operations and decision-making using one of the four models outlined in the toolkit:
Nature as inspiration
Nature as advisor
Nature as director or
Nature as shareholder.
“We believe that understanding humans, nature and the interdependence between us at a deeper level is needed more than ever to stay strongly rooted as a business.
The case companies that are generously sharing their view of nature and how they have chosen to give nature a voice in their operations are examples of exactly what is urgently needed to restore the relationship between business and nature”, says Gitte Rosholm, Manager, B Lab Nordics.
The pilot project is a joint partnership between B Lab Nordics, B Lab Europe Legal and Märk Cph with the aim to push the movement for nature governance in Denmark forward. Nordic B Corps Sinatur Hotel & Konference, Yrolí, Søren Jensen Engineering and Icebug AB are among the featured case companies.
“A handful of inspiring Nordic business leaders have turned the nature of their business into Nature’s business – giving her a role, a mandate, or a seat in their governance, exploring new ways to hear her voice, and practicing how to listen. Danish corporate law already recognizes that others than the owners can hold formal influence in the boardroom – we have a strong tradition of employee-elected board members. Onboarding Nature simply asks whether the same logic should apply to nature, and the cases show how to bring the idea to life,” says Nille Skalts, Partner at Märk Cph.
