Starting in early 2026, B Corps certified under the new B Lab Standards (V2.1) will gain access to updated brand tools, including:
- A revised B Corp Brand Book, with clarified guidance on logo use, tone of voice, and claims language.
- A new library of pre-approved messaging, aligned with B Lab’s standards and compliant with the EU Empowering Consumers Directive for the Green Transition Directive (ECGT)
- Logo and tagline lockups that reflect the updated certification model and help prevent misuse.
- Updated positioning to clearly differentiate companies certified under the new standards.
Only companies certified under the new B Lab Standards will be eligible to use certain updated brand claims and assets.
If you are developing new print or packaging materials now that are intended to be in circulation from September 2026 onward, please do already reference the new long-lead guidance. These guidelines are specifically designed for materials entering the market after the ECGT implementation deadline. They will be part of the brand guidance updates coming in 2026.
For B Corps communicating with consumers in the EU, continuing to use previous brand guidelines and not recertifying under V2.1 by September 2026 may create compliance risks. B Lab strongly recommends that ECGT-impacted companies recertify by September 2026 and align with the updated Brand Book. Ultimately, it is up to each company to evaluate how to balance these risks and costs.
